Yes, I said it
I know. I know. Here comes the flood of traditional bacon lovers who can’t fathom abandoning their seasoned skillets but I stand by the title of the post. Cooking bacon in the oven will open up a new world of not only convenience but also flavor. Yes, my favorite F word, flavor. It is hands down the best way to cook bacon. You see, we aren’t just too lazy to bother with a frying pan. No. There’s a deeper reason why this cooking method will get you hooked. When you cook bacon in the oven you enable the use of creativity. Seasoned bacon. That’s the prize we’re talking about. Before that, though, allow me to get some things off of my chest about frying bacon.
It’s dull. Yeah. If you take that as an insult, good. It’s meant to be one. Frying bacon is all about ending up with the same product time after time, again and again. Sure, when you’re green in the kitchen it’s amazing to cook your first batch of golden, crisp slices of pork, but after that, it just becomes…meh. The glorious bacon goes from being an all-star to more of a bench warmer. People have turned bacon into more of a condiment. Something to improve a meal rather than be the focus of the meal. That’s sad. *sniffle* I cry inside when I see bacon all done the same, in homes and restaurants alike. Hopefully, we can change that.
Cooking bacon in the oven is a revolution. People have developed an urge to be more adventurous in the kitchen and bacon has made it into the spotlight. Unlike frying, baking is a gentle cooking method that preserves flavors and allows for mouth-watering combinations. The savory taste of bacon provides the perfect base flavor that blends with just about anything.

Now if that didn’t convince you, maybe this will. We’ve all been in this situation. You wake up on a nice Saturday morning. Perhaps you open a window and get a whiff of that fresh autumn air (Autumn just sounds better. Go with it.). Like any normal person, your mind concludes that this morning is the perfect morning for some bacon. Well, you, not yet enlightened, bring out the frying pan and begin cooking just a few pieces from a pack of bacon. The packs that always have too much for one person. Well, guess what? The doesn’t fly with the rest of your family. The family that you forgot because your perfectly normal bacon addiction got the best of you. They start coming one by one, demanding their share of bacon. Now, instead of cooking 4 pieces you have to cook the whole pack. You spend several minutes frying bacon, turning it, getting grease on your hands, taking out a few pieces only to put a few more back in, and when it’s all said and done you get to enjoy your four pieces.
Doesn’t sound enjoyable, does it? Now it doesn’t. However, you can finally say goodbye to that hellish nightmare. Cooking bacon in the oven will end such suffering. You see, an oven pan can fit more than a frying pan!
Woah, Woah. Calm down. I know that was a shocking piece of information but lets stay on track.
With the oven, you just set the bacon in and forget. Turning is optional. 350 degrees Fahrenheit and around 10-15 minutes of relaxing. That’s all you need.
Well, hopefully, I’ve converted you by now. Next time you get the urge for crispy bacon you need to cook it in the oven for once and fall in love with our fatty cut of meat all over again.
